Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show

Known under this title from 1986-2000, during the 90s it aired on global at 5pm every saturday. It is still an amazing show that is so influential on cartoons its impossible not to love. If you have never heard of this show i urge you to leave this blog and never return.

Rugrats

Pinnacle Nickelodeon cartoon. The shenanigans and adventures of these amusing toddlers. Aired throughout the 90s and still continues airing on a few channels, spawned movies as well. REPTAR.

My Pet Monster

Aired in the late 80s but reached cult like status in the 90s. Kid has a pet monster, its pretty self explanatory.

Captain Planet

Ted Turners badass attempt to create an environmentally aware cartoon featuring captain planet saving the worlds environment.

Reboot

First show i ever saw with CGI. Began airing in 1994-2001, it was a cool action cartoon.

Spider-Man

Aired from 94-98 following Peter Parker in his first year at university. First inception of venom, carnage and hobgoblin as villains. Pretty rad show.

Polka Dot Door

Was on very early morning throughout the mornings and occasionally saw light in a TVO afternoon lineup in the early 90s.

Kratts Creatures

Chris and Martin used video clips and the occasional trip to teach us about animals. Now known as zobomafoo, but that show sucks.

Magic School Bus

Everyone should know this show. Ralphie, Tim, Keisha, DA, Phoebe, Carlos, Arnold, Wanda, Ms Frizzle and Liz taught us an assload of cool stuff about science. TVO aired it in the mid 90s and its still on to this day.

Dexters Laboratory

From 1996-2003 we were amused by Dexter and Dee Dees antics in his cool hidden lab.

Goof Troop

Awesome show about Pete, PJ, Max and Goofy and their antics. On various channels throughout the 90s.

Theodore Tugboat

CBC aired theodores harbour adventures from 1993-2001. Cool show, like a canadian thomas the tank engine...but with the obvious dissimilarities.

Beast Wars

Aired in the late 90s on ytv as a spinoff of transformers. Optimus primal hah.

Sesame Park

Canadian version of sesame street. Aired every morning on cbc under this moniker from 1996-??

Mr. Dressup

I have a great deal of respect for this man. He was on the air for 39 fucking years. Its incredible. He was a solid entertainer with a good premise and fantastic delivery. Every canadian has to have viewed his show at least once.

Recess

This show certainly did not whomp. Fucking awesome show that i still watch to this day and enjoy wholeheartedly.

Timon and Pumbaa

They got a saturday morning spinoff after their success in the lion king. I believe it was on family channel and perhaps ctv.

Gargoyles

The rock creates beat people and things up on saturday mornings on ytv and ctv.

Inspector Gadget

Quintessential part of each childs pre-school viewing on global.

Journey of Allen Strange

The alien black kid that lived with some other kid. Complete rip of my favourite martian for a nickelodeon audience. Was on tvo for awhile then i saw it on global afterwards.

Fred Penner

CBC classic, Fred crawled out of his log weekly to sing songs and hang out with puppets.

Johnny Quest

Re-aired in 1987 it was decent in following johnny quest and gang around on their solving quests and mysteries.

Noddy

Live stuff was pretty shitty, but the stop motion stuff was cool. I originally started watching this show and not liking it, but having 5 channels really guides what you end up watching. Tvo aired the shit out of this for a few years.

Polka Dot Shorts

Polkaroo, humpty, dumpty, marigold, bear and bibble. Little shenanigans in polkaroos shack. Aired a lot in the mid to late 90s on tvo.

Round the Twist

have you ever ... ever felt like this? Interesting show from Australia that TVO aired in the mid 90s. The show had 4 seasons that aired over a decade, so series 1 and 2 would have been the ones airing at this time. Synopsis is a family moves into a lighthouse and strange and magical things happen.

X-Men

Awesome show that aired in the mid-late 90s, documenting the x mens battles with various villains.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Amusing almost strictly because of the puppet cat Salem. Decent show and Melissa Joan Hart is a cutie.

Arthur

Everyone should know this one. Possibly one of the most important shows in my childhood. Started airing in 1997 and is still going strong today. Show was a great balance of life lessons, learning, friendship and comedy.

Ace Ventura

Ace and Spike searched for pets. Aired saturday mornings in the mid 90s.

Johnny Bravo

Oh mama. Johnny aired in the late 90s and early 00's. Show kicked a severe amount of ass.

Pingu

claymation win. Pingu lived in an igloo and explored the surrounding ice sheet with that long triangle nosed ass. His family was the definition of a prime nuclear family.

Art Attack!

Neil and his PVA glue. And that crazy head thing. Taught us all to be artists even though most of us suck.

Doug

Doug was massive. Even had a movie.

Student Bodies

Started airing in 1997 on global, timeslot shifted around a lot though. Bit of a Saved by the Bell rip.

Johnson & Friends

Took a whole lot of thinking to remember this one. Rad show. Water bottle may be missing a chromosome though.

The Elephant Show

They taught, they sang, they had a big elephant in the room, they had Eric Nagler. A true force to be reckoned with. Show aired throughout the late 80s all the way to early 00's under a different show premise.

Professor Iris

Taught class to a flower, a piano and some other creature i can't recall(bird)?
Either way, it was educational and wicked to watch.

Wombles

Although made in the 70's, TVO recycled this in the late 90s. Taught us about recycling.

Babaloos

7:25am for 1998 on TVO. Shenanigans in a kitchen.

Bill Nye the Science Guy

Bill. Bill. Bill. Bill. Bill Nye the Science Guy!
Naked Mole Rats. He taught kids about science and did a damn good job. I respect this man.

Kitty Cats

Your head just exploded when you read that title. If you had TVO then you watched this show. End of story.

Patty & Joe

Fuck every other host. These two were some of the most important people in my childhood. Kev bailed after a season and Joe was a hero.
Saddest day of life when Joe was replaced with Phil in 1998. Patty was a champ until she finally went over to CBC, which is still respectable. Joe does westjet commercials.
God bless them.

The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon

Big dude in a dragon suit would learn about the world from two 10 year olds.

Pokemon

No explanation required. 1998 was a good time for japanese cartoons ruling the world.

Goosebumps

Each episode was based on one of RL Steins books. Sweet show, occasionally scary.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Aired for the entire decade of the 90's. Each show was a little substory that was meant to scare you. Key to YTV.

Care Bears

Was essential to almost everyone currently between the ages of 18 and 25.

Digimon

Was hooked on the first season. Aired at 7:30am weekdays on global. The premise was awesome and executed very well...then it just got ridiculous.

The Real Ghostbusters

Awesome cartoon. I saw it re-airing a couple months ago on teletoon.
